Job Title: PADI Divemaster Intern

We are looking for a PADI Divemaster Intern for our small business on World Heritage listed Lord Howe Island. Applicants should be passionate about SCUBA diving and the environment, physically fit and have a friendly disposition. Applicants should also be prepared for living on a remote island.
The intern will report to Aaron and Lisa Ralph, business owners as well as their OWSI mentor. Please refer to the Job Description for a list of responsibilities, skills and experience required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: PADI Divemaster Intern
JOB TYPE: Full Time Internship Exchange Programme
LOCATION: Pro Dive Lord Howe Island Dive Shed – 2 Lagoon Road, Lord Howe Island NSW 2898
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Aaron Ralph – OWSI / Coxswain / Pro Dive Lord Howe Island Director
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dive Leader Role: Once trained, be responsible for leading up to 12 divers at a variety of dive sites. Refer to Dive Leader Expectations PDF
- Deck Hand Role: Once trained, assist on the Pro Dive Lord Howe Island vessel in a deckhand position. Refer to Deck Hand Expectations PDF
- Pro Dive Lord Howe Island Shop Role: “Front of Shed Roles” and “Back of Shed Roles”
- Open and close Pro Dive Lord Howe Island shed
- Dive gear set up and pack down for all divers including gear care
- Fill SCUBA tanks using SCUBA compressor
- Gear rental: Dive gear, Snorkel Gear, SUP, Kayak, Underwater Camera, etc
- Retail sales
- Coordinate and carry out all office administration including reception, managing money, client accounts, mail, couriers, greeting clients, and filing
- Perform stocktake checks
- Assist customers and ensure all their needs are met
- Adhere to all training deadlines
- Be punctual, well groomed, courteous and professional
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Advanced Open Water or Deep SCUBA Certification
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Valid Drivers Licence
- Australian Citizen / Resident or valid VISA
Prerequisites:
- Minimum 18 years old
- Medically evaluated and cleared for recreational diving by a physician within 6 months
- First Aid Certificate within 12 months
Experience:
- Minimum dives – 20 preferred, inform us if you have less
- Boating experience preferred
- Previous work experience in a customer service role
Skills:
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
- Intermediate Mac skills (iPhoto and Mail)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
PERFORMANCE GOALS:
- Meet PADI Divemaster course standards. To be disussed in detail with your PADI OWSI
- Complete administration tasks accurately and on time
- Deal with clients, suppliers and other team members professionally at all times
- Ensure office is clean and presentable at all times
